Yuba says their Supermarchė cargo bike is already one of the most popular carbo models on the market, and now it comes in an e-bike variety. The new Electric Supermarché uses a Bosch CX Performance motor with a 500Wh battery pack to help you push kids, groceries, or even three (full) beer kegs over the hills.
The battery pack sits behind the steering column, out of the way but easily accessible for removal or recharging.
Keeping things spinning at a good cadence is an Enviolo internally geared rear hub, with a chain tensioner to keep that extra long chain from flopping all over. Four piston Magura hydraulic disc brakes bring it all back down from speed.
An integrated frame lock prevents the rear wheel from spinning (it slots in just above the yellow sticker on the frame tube), and has an built-in lock holder just behind the rear light so you have somewhere to stow it when you’re rolling. The lock is sold separately, though, as are most accessories to add the desired functionality.
Accessories like this bamboo cargo box, which can seat two kids with seatbelts. Front cargo capacity is rated at 180kg (about 400lbs!), and the rear rack can handle up to 36kg (~80lbs), though maybe not as a combined load. That’s an increase from the non-motorized version’s 100kg load rating – they figured with the motor you’d be able to haul more, so they beefed things up to increase capacity. The low cargo platform and smaller 20″ wheels keep the center of gravity low for easy handling.
Opt for that front child carrier/basket and you can also add on this new rain cover to keep everything dry. Prices for all accessories TBA, but the bike will retail for €5,250 (should be the same in USD) when it goes on sale in September.
